Bears Get Their Paws Into Krispy Kreme Van to Steal Some Sweets

Krispy Kreme donuts are too delicious to resist—even for bears!

Two bears in Anchorage, Alaska recently raided a Krispy Kreme donut van in a military base, according to the Associated Press. It's said the vehicle was parked outside a convenience store during its delivery route when a mother and her cub made their way inside it, where they stayed for approximately 20 minutes.

The bears ignored the banging from outside the van meant to shoo them away, munching on the treats. Shelly Deano, who is the store manager for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson JMM Express, detailed the surprising situation to outlet, sharing, "I was beating on the van and they’re not moving. I could hear them breaking open the packages and everything."

She added, "I was like, 'They don't even care.'"

When her attempts to get them out of the van were futile, base security was called in, sounding alarms to scare the critters off. The bears are said to have eventually exited the vehicle, wandering in front of the convenience store and gas station before returning to the woods.

The publication also shared a photo provided by Deano, which showed the black bears digging through the donut packages while the van door remained opened.

This is somehow not the wildest bear-related story of the week. On Monday, Sept. 18, a black bear was found at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

Out of precaution, the park temporarily closed and the bear was captured. It was then released into the wild in the Ocala National Forest in Marion County, which is around 90 minutes away from the Disney parks, as confirmed by a spokesperson to The New York Times.
