"The Bear Is Back!"- Bear Valley Announces Opening Day

Not to be confused with Big Bear, Bear Valley is the #1 family friendly resort in California, located halfway between Tahoe and Yosemite.

A day ago, Bear Valley announced its opening day, writing "the moment we have been waiting for is here!" We can hardly bear it!

Indeed, it was "the much anticipated opening day announcement."

Bear Valley extends invitations to skiers in California and beyond to "join us this coming Saturday December 9th for the 23/24 season opening day! THE BEAR IS BACK!"

You can't beat that catchphrase.

Last year, Bear Valley saw 428 total inches of snow over the course of the season.

This year to date, there is 2 inches of total snowfall, but good things are on the way as a storm rolls in this week.

Bear Valley is also under new ownership, as California Mountain Resorts company bought Bear Valley last month, which means loads of scheduled improvements to the mountain.

Currently, California Mountain Resorts explains that Bear Valley has limited snowmaking and lacks the normal vertical drop of other nearby resorts.

But Bear Valley has 1680 skiable acres, a solid number, and the addition of a lift that will link runs on the ski area’s south side to its Bear Valley Village, an area currently without lift service will only improve the skiing experience.

"Additional upgrades to lifts, snowmaking, and grooming operations are planned."

It will be a bear of a task, but someone has to do it, and we're stoked that they are!
