You may have heard the name Beanie Feldstein floating around this awards season. The 24-year-old actress is not only one of the breakout stars of Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut Lady Bird, but she’s also Jonah Hill’s kid sister!

Beanie Isn’t Her Real Name

First things first, Miss Feldstein’s given name is Elizabeth Greer Feldstein. “Beanie” is a nickname her British nanny called her as a kid.

Lady Bird Wasn’t Her Film Debut

Beanie’s been on screen since 2002 when she appeared in an episode of My Wife and Kids. Notably, Feldstein appeared in 2016’s Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.

She’s Best Friends with Dear Evan Hansen’s Ben Platt

Beanie and Ben went to Havard-Westlake School for high school together.

Beanie graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in sociology.

She Wore Her Prom Dress to the SAG Awards

The black Kay Unger gown (photographed below) Beanie wore to the Screen Actors Guild Awards was her high school prom dress. "I put it on and it fit, surprisingly maybe better than it did in high school!" Feldstein gushed to The Cut. "I looked at myself and I was like, WHAT!? My mom and her best friend were just laughing so hard, like, ‘You have to wear it! There’s just no other dress that would be better.'"

The gesture doubled as an ode to her Lady Bird character. "It’s just a gorgeous dress, and I love how my character’s story ends at the prom, so like, for the first time I’m going to an awards show as a nominee with the cast, it’s like, you gotta wear your prom dress, girl, and honor Julie.”
