You would think that most bean bag chairs are pretty similar. Even though I've owned many bean bag chairs over the years and purchased them for my kids, I had no idea just how much thought goes into these simple chairs.

Parents are always trying to juggle what their child needs now versus what their child could be growing into in the near future. Luckily, most bean bags are good for a number of years, but there are a few traditional bean bag chair sizes: bags for toddlers to preschool, bags for elementary-age kids, as well as bean bag chairs for junior high, high school, and beyond. Cover Type and Cleaning

Leather, microfiber, faux fur, and stretch fabrics are the most popular bean bag cover types. They all have pluses and minuses, but generally, the rule of thumb you want to follow is to match the material to the potential for destruction. Little kids need something sturdy and washable, like a microfiber corduroy, elementary and middle school kids benefit from stretchy materials that will fit their bodies as they grow, and older kids and adults may like leather or fur for the look.

Also, consider whether it's machine-washable or not. Do you have to spot-treat the fabric? Is it water-resistant? Getting the cover off can be a bit of a hassle, so you want to know ahead of time how you'll be caring for it.
