Beach Bites: Tavern in the Forest
CAROLINA FOREST, S.C. (WBTW) — “For locals, by locals.”
That’s the motto at Tavern in the Forest, a staple in the Carolina Forest community since 2007.
“The reception from the Carolina Forest community has been amazing,” said Drew Doss, the restaurant’s director of operations. “All of our owners live right here in the 29579 zip code.”
When you step inside, expect a personal experience.
“When you walk in, there’s a sign that says ‘Tavern in the Forest where friends meet,’ and we stand by that,” Doss said. “We want to go, like, that little bit extra beyond what everybody else does to make sure that every experience that somebody has is a great time.”
From their custom blend USDA prime beef burgers to tasty wings and beautifully layered nachos, you are sure to enjoy every single bite.
Doss said many people don’t realize they are a hand-tossed pizza kitchen. There is no pre-formed dough; it’s all done by hand.
Closed on Sundays is one of the restaurant’s most popular pizzas, made with fired chicken, honey mustard, barbeque sauce and pickles. Along with all the delicious food, they offer nice cold beers or cocktails to wash everything down.
“We always have a rotating selection of craft beer,” Doss said. “We try to focus on local offerings as much as possible.”
Their large menu and wide variety of food and drink selections aren’t the only thing that makes Tavern in the Forest special.
“We have a lot of offerings, and we wanted to make sure that everything that we have on our menu that we can execute is not just good, but exceptional,” Doss said.
Taven in the Forest is is open until 2 a.m. every night and features a late-night menu from 10 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Whether you live in the 29579 zip code or not, when you come to Tavern in the Forest, expect to feel like family.
You can find them at the corner of River Oaks Drive and Carolina Forest Boulevard, or at their sister restaurant, Tavern in Surfside, which is just off Highway 17 Bypass.
