New Baton Rouge bar offers food, drinks, video games for fun with friends

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A new bar recently opened in downtown Baton Rouge. There are multiple 70-inch TVs, surround sound and a pool table. Guests can play video games, including Mario Kart, while sipping and snacking on signature menu items.

The Somewhere Neighborhood Bar, 214 3rd Street, opened on Friday, March 8 in the space where Boudreaux and Thibadoux used to be. The space has been completely remodeled, according to owner Daniel Unda. He said they “updated the sprinkler, electrical and repaired the floors that were almost 50 years old.”

Unda has 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry including being the current general manager of Capital City Grill.

As for Somewhere Neighborhood Bar, Unda said, “we want to be your everyday bar. No gimmicks, just a clean, chill place with good food, affordable drinks and friendly staff.”

“All the cocktails are named after servers who have worked with me at Capital City Grill. They are amazing. They helped us get through COVID, recession, you name it. They have become like my kids,” Unda said. “Watching them grow and become amazing young men and women has been one of the greatest privileges my job has given me.”

The menu includes cocktails, fried pickles, grilled cheese, cheese fries and more.

He said they chose the spot they did to open the bar because it is a prime location.

“We are in front of the police station and surrounded by all the major hotels downtown,” said Unda.

The bar is open from 4 p.m. until midnight Sunday through Thursday and noon. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
