The Batman director Matt Reeves is an important part of the new DC universe.

That’s the message sent by DC co-CEO James Gunn on Threads recently. When user @NickTiznado asked “sorry is the Arkham show set in the DCU?" Gunn replied: “Yes. We love Matt as a director and producer so he'll be producing stories both within his The Batman universe and within the DCU."

We already know he’s currently cooking up The Batman - Part II, but apparently there’s something else in the pipeline, (not including The Batman suit that comes to Batman: Arkham Knight for free), and according to Gunn, it’s connected to the new-look DCU.

Speaking of which, the first DCU phase is called ‘Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters,’ which kicks off with the Creature Commandos TV series on Max in 2024, followed by Superman: Legacy later that year.

Reeves’ The Batman actually belongs to the Elseworlds brand, which is its own universe within DC Studios.

So while it’s unlikely Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne will one day interact with David Corenswet’s Superman, it seems Reeves is working on other “stories” that do exist within Gunn’s DCU.
