As a New Yorker of more than 15 years, I am nothing if not well-versed in small-space living. Tiny apartments are the trade-off for residing in the magical behemoth that is New York City, and those tiny apartments often have even tinier bathrooms. Suffice it to say, bathroom storage is a challenge shared universally by not just New Yorkers, but also city-dwellers everywhere. So it should come as no surprise that I have spent a lot of time trying to solve this age-old problem. And at long last I am delighted to share that I have finally found the perfect solution: the steel Rolling Storage Cart from Yamazaki Home.

Yamazaki Home’s Rolling Storage Cart Is Exactly What Your Bathroom Needs

Designed in Japan, Yamazaki Home’s Rolling Storage Cart is as chic as it is functional, with clean lines and a minimal modern aesthetic. At only five inches wide, it’s narrow enough to fit in even the tightest spaces, like between the sink and the toilet or between the toilet and your bathroom wall. In all of my years searching for a bathroom storage solution, never have I found another cabinet or shelf that actually fits where I need it to without making the bathroom feel cluttered. (I’m looking at you, over-the-toilet shelving units.)

The Rolling Storage Cart’s shelves are laid out in such a way that it can house cleaning supplies, including a toilet brush; extra rolls of toilet paper; bath, skincare, and hair care products; and nearly anything else you could possibly want or need to store in your bathroom. Four casters allow you to easily wheel the storage cart out when you need something, but they’re stable enough that it doesn’t roll around on its own.

Made of steel and wood veneer, the Rolling Storage Cart is sturdy and incredibly easy to clean, and assembly is as simple as attaching the casters. It comes in either black or white, and the best part about it is that you can turn it so the open side is flush against your wall and leave the solid side facing out, keeping your bathroom looking tidy and uncluttered. Its wooden top can be used to store frequently used products, or you can do what I do and use it to display simple decor, like an oil diffuser or candle. (Diptyque’s Baies candle is my personal favorite.)

The Rolling Storage Cart, although incredibly effective if not altogether perfect, is affordable, but not necessarily cheap. Priced at $145, it’s more expensive than your regular run-of-the-mill bathroom shelving unit, but totally worth the extra expense. My bathroom has never been more organized, nor has it ever looked more stylish and chic, and my tiny little apartment feels just a little bit less tiny.
