Baskin-Robbins Has 2 New Flavors This Month

Plus more frozen treats and something for Mom.

Ice cream lovers await the announcement of Baskin-Robbins' flavor of the month—usually created to coincide with the season—with great anticipation. The most recent flavor of the month had spring written all over it. The ice cream shop created Marigold Dreamsicle for April. The treat featured real marigold blossoms, vanilla bean ice cream, and creamy orange swirls.

The special monthly offering isn't always seasonally related, though. March's flavor of the month was not some riff on a Shamrock Shake, as might have been reasonably expected—it was Mexican Chocolate Brownie. Baskin-Robbins' next flavor of the month is actually two new flavors not related to a particular season but tied into an upcoming family movie, "IF."

Baskin-Robbins' New Ice Cream Flavors for May

The ice cream shop hopes to capture the excitement over the upcoming movie "IF," a family-friendly film coming to theaters on May 17. It's about a young girl who can see everyone's imaginary friends. She's on a mission to connect some of those imaginary friends with the grown-ups who have left them behind.

Baskin-Robbins' May flavors of the month take inspiration from two of the film's imaginary, colorful friends.

• Blossom's Berry Twirl is based on the sweet character 'Blossom' voiced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge of "Fleabag." It combines strawberry and sweet cream ice cream flavors with rainbow sprinkles and pink sugar cookie dough flowers.

• Blue's Boardwalk Bash is based on the character Blue, voiced by Steve Carell of "The Office." Described as "a carnival in a cup," it combines blue raspberry-flavored ice cream with crunchy Oreo Cookie Pieces and cotton candy swirls.
  

There's also a specialty sundae called "What IF?" with a base of confetti cake topped with two scoops of Blossom's Berry Twirl, strawberry topping, rainbow sprinkles, and a cherry.

The movie doesn't come out until May 17, but the "IF"-inspired ice cream creations are available starting today, giving fans a jump-start at priming their imaginations for the sweet, colorful film they'll enjoy a few weeks later.

Baskin-Robbins Is Celebrating Moms Too

While unrelated to the movie "IF," Baskin-Robbins has one other special offering in May—a cake for the mom who screams for ice cream. The new customizable Mother's Day Strawberries' n Cream Cake is available from May 1-15. It's filled with your choices of ice cream and cake layers (better make those mom's favorites, right?), all covered with strawberry whipped frosting and topped with real strawberries and icing rosettes.
