Bartender pens cautionary tale about shopping alone late at night

On the subreddit r/LetsNotMeet, userVenus_Nova shared a story about howwhen she was 25 years old, she narrowlyescaped “walking to [her] death”.Venus_Nova was working at her bartendingjob when her boss asked her to grab somebar necessities at a 24-hour grocery store. While at the store, Venus_Nova encounteredtwo “‘country’-looking guys” around her age.“They were staring at me and whispering to eachother in a way that made me uncomfortable”.When Venus_Nova got to the self-checkout station, she noticed that the two guys had followed her.Eventually, they tried to talk to her, asking her questions like “Do you have aboyfriend?” and “You ready to party?”.they then apparently started to use“a more threatening tone” and toldher "we can teach you a lesson”.Feeling unsafe, Venus_Nova made eye contactwith the cashier and tried to wordlessly say"I do not feel safe and I might need help”.Thankfully, the cashier got the messageand escorted her over to the cash registerto check her out manually.“[The cashier] said, ‘I had a bad feeling aboutthose guys … I already rang security to beready to walk out to the parking lot andmake sure you left safely".When Venus_Nova was ready to beescorted to the parking lot, she spottedthe two guys waiting for her outside.Once the two men realized that the securityguard and the cashier were not going to leave, they “peeled out of the parking lot”.“Needless to say, I do not go late nightshopping by myself anymore. Never will again”
