Barry Manilow’s Former Malibu Beach House Is Now a Modern Dream—And You Can Own It

When you have as many mega-hits as singer Barry Manilow does, you can pretty much have your pick of perfect tens in real estate. For the Copacabana crooner himself, it was a three-story California getaway with multimillion-dollar ocean views that checked all his dream house boxes.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Manilow purchased the Malibu escape for $3.5 million back in 2002 and used it as his personal retreat—and songwriting inspiration, perhaps?—until he sold it to its current owners a decade later. The new owners then proceeded to revamp the 4,300-square-foot home into a modern, glass-walled showstopper.

But while the retreat, now re-listed with The Agency for $10.375 million, might look a bit different from its Manilow days, it still retains an important asset: 180-degree Pacific views. Sitting on a rocky point that juts out in front of other million-dollar Malibu homes, the mod masterpiece affords some of the best views of the ocean and coastline from Point Dume to Palos Verdes.

And the remodeled home certainly takes advantage of that fortunate feature. From the double height living room to the spacious master suite, nearly every room in the house has uninhibited views of the sea. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the ocean-facing side of the home on all levels, allowing natural light to flood the updated interiors throughout.

From the entryway, where a self-feeding fish tank greets homeowners, luxe details abound. Rich wood floors flow into a sunken living room, where panoramic views and sky-high ceilings steal the show. Adjacent to the living room, a dining space and gourmet kitchen with double islands provides the perfect setup for entertaining both indoors and out; all three rooms open out onto a spacious oceanfront terrace with dining and lounge space.

Upstairs, a sprawling master suite includes a fireplace, walk-in closet, and spa-like bath with an additional walk-in closet. Additional bedrooms feature upscale finishes and space-saving built-ins. For weekends that call for an overflow of houseguests (every weekend, probably), a detached guest house sits on the opposite side of a dreamy entertaining courtyard complete with a hot tub and outdoor kitchen.
