“Barbiecore” has been a trend in fashion ever since last year, but as the new movie Barbie shows, the aesthetic also very much applies to interior design. This is to say: Barbie is a very pink movie. And the Barbie sets look like they'd be so fun to visit in real life. I mean, a life-size Barbie Dreamhouse? Come on!

Unfortunately, though, there’s some bad news. For the most part, Barbie didn't film on sets that are available to us non-Barbies and Kens. This isn't like a period piece where you can actually go visit the old castles shown on screen—it's a toy-inspired fantasy that looks nothing like our real world. But, there is one key location from the Barbie movie you can visit yourself. And, if you’re just dying to be a Barbie girl in a Barbie world, there are some other options for getting the full “life in plastic” experience, too.

Barbie filmed mostly in the U.K.

Despite Barbie being an American icon (who, fun fact, is canonically from Wisconsin), Barbie filmed mostly in the U.K. at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England. It was there that Barbie's world—including her Dreamhouse—was brought to life after being designed by production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer. The two told Architectural Digest that they were inspired by midcentury Palm Springs designs.

"We were literally creating the alternate universe of Barbie Land," director Greta Gerwig told the publication. "Everything needed to be tactile, because toys are, above all, things you touch." For example, the sky and mountains in the background of scenes were painted rather than being CGI.

Greenwood and Spencer also studied a Barbie Dreamhouse and found that the scale of house-to-doll is pretty odd. So, the rooms are actually 23% smaller than they would typically be in a real person's home. "The ceiling is actually quite close to one’s head, and it only takes a few paces to cross the room," Gerwig explained. "It has the odd effect of making the actors seem big in the space but small overall."

They did film some scenes in Los Angeles, too.

In June 2022, the internet went wild when photos were published of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling filming Barbie while wearing matching neon outfits and rollerblades. These photos were snapped in Venice Beach, making it a Barbie set you actually can visit. The Los Angeles neighborhood is located alongside the Pacific Ocean and is known for its famous boardwalk.

There are other ways to experience the world of Barbie.

If you simply can't get enough Barbie, there are some other ways to keep the party going. While you can't visit the real Dreamhouse that was created for the movie, you can check out Robbie giving a tour of the set thanks to Architectural Digest.

There are also a number of Barbie-themed events going on around the country. For example, there are pop-up Malibu Barbie Cafes in Chicago and New York City. There's the Barbie Truck Tour, which is essentially a Mattel van traveling across the country and selling themed products in various cities. Plus, the movie theater chain Alamo Drafthouse is featuring photo-ops and merch at some of its Barbie screenings.

Or, you know, you could just watch Barbie again. You don't have to Barbenheimer, You can simply Barbie-Barbie instead.
