Nike is a quintessential American brand that is known for sponsoring many of the greatest athletes in sports history. Our hope is that the Swoosh is ready to move into the business of sneaker deals for former presidents.

On Wednesday afternoon, Barack Obama made an under-the-radar visit to the Nike campus in Beaverton, Oregon. The 44th President of the United States cracked some jokes about wanting free swag while offering a nice pep talk about the spirit of the company.

In his brief remarks, Obama noted the company's ethos, which was established by Nike co-founder Phil Knight, who stood next to him. The brief visit wasn’t announced to local media, according to FOX 12 Oregon.

Additionally, the reason for the trip remains unclear at this time. Obama's interest in the corporate world and sports industry is well-documented, so it's safe to assume the former President is working on a larger project.

Before and during his presidency, Obama was known for his legendary pickup basketball games, where he regularly represented American brands like Nike and Under Armour on the court. Stay tuned to Men's Journal Sneakers for your daily footwear news.
