Banff Ski Resort To Open A Week Earlier Than Originally Planned

Lake Louise, Alberta, announced earlier this fall it planned to open on November 10th. Yesterday, they threw those plans out the window, deciding instead to open for skiing and riding tomorrow, November 3rd, joining Mt. Norquay's opening day party.

Here's the announcement.

Opening day at Lake Louise will feature three runs (Wiwaxy, Bald Eagle, and a portion of Easy Street) alongside a small terrain park with jumps, boxes, and rails. Given the reduced early-season terrain offerings, tickets are roughly 50% if purchased at the resort on opening day. Lake Louise reports that the price of tickets will increase as more terrain opens.

Adding to the excitement: snow -- hard to say how much -- is anticipated at Lake Louise through this weekend, meaning some boot top powder turns could be on tap.

And that, folks, is the news.

What a week, though, right?

Late last month, just a handful of resorts were opening up -- now, the arrival of winter is fully taking root across North America. Wherever you are, I hope your local is up next. Powder is better shared.
