Band of Outsiders—Back for One Day Only

There’s a Verizon Fios commercial that plays over and over again during The Daily Show on Hulu (I thought I could give up Hulu after losing Jon and Stephen, but I love Trevor) featuring Rashida Jones and her mom Peggy Lipton. Jones is trying to find a spot of Internet in her mom’s not so tech-savvy home to take a business call over Skype. And as soon as she nestles into the corner of the laundry room her mom comes in and turns on the machine. None of which is the point. The point is that she has on the best outfit.

Jones wears a loose-fitting grey suit with cuffed trousers and a blue and white striped blouse buttoned up to her neck, with white leather sneakers. And every time I see it I a) wonder if it’s Band of Outsiders (Jones was a huge fan, and face of the brand) and b) lament the fact that now that I’m a grown up who can afford a Band of Outsiders suit, it no longer exists.

Except it does, for one day only. WWD reports that Filene’s Basement plans to sell 2,000 pieces of the brand for 50% off retail on Black Friday. A spokesperson told the paper they’ll have “the full inventory of Band of Outsiders’ flagship retail location,” and then some. The article also mentions that another American retailer bought a limited selection of product when Band shut down, so this could, possibly, be the first of two sales.
