Bampa’s House raises money through unique spring fashion show

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) — Appleridge Senior Living hosted its second spring fashion show to raise money for Bampa’s House. Some of the people who modeled in the show were a mix of residents from Appleridge and models from the clothing store Lucky-U.

One of the models was 88-year-old Bette Hartley, who said, “It’s something I had never done before and I said at the age I’m at, what a wonderful time to be able to just do something different and that’s what I’ve done.”

The event was sold out, with 110 attendees and 30 volunteers helping to support the organization.

Betty Miller, who was at the event said, “I’ve been in a situation where I have needed care for a loved one. So, I understand how important it is to have a place like Bampa’s House that people can rely on in their time of trouble.”

Another supporter, Joanne Burress added, “It provides a service for the community for people who need their services, and like Betty, I also was in a situation where it would have been nice to have something like that. And there are just so many volunteers that do a wonderful job, and I think I’m just proud to be able to live in a community and to be able to help them.”

Appleridge Senior Living raised $2,500 from last year’s fashion show. They hope to reach or exceed that amount this year.
