New Balance Reintroduces T500 Sneaker Embracing Quiet Luxury

New Balance has reintroduced its T500 sneaker style.

First created as a performance shoe in 1982, the T500 sneaker is back in New Balance’s product line with a trendy update. The new T500’s design nods to the quiet luxury style as a monochromatic white shoe. The upper is made of pigskin suede, nubuck, and a perforated toe-box. The midsole is made of polyurethane.

In 2023, the T500 was previously revived in collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore. That partnership was fronted by star player Coco Gauff.

“The CT500 was first introduced as part of the 1982 Technology Transfer Court Collection, focusing on best-in-class technology and comfort for tennis, initially built for ultimate fit, traction, and lightweight performance on the court,” New Balance senior product manager Paul Kaseumouk said in a release. “Following our current success with retro basketball and consumers shifting towards lower profile, clean and elevated models, it made perfect sense for us to revisit our extensive archive and diversify our court offering.”

“We wanted to stay true to the original with refined neutral tones and introduce something that was new, yet familiar,” Kaseumouk said. “The T500 fits perfectly within our Lifestyle portfolio, fusing comfort, quality craftsmanship, and refined aesthetic that will undoubtedly be a closet staple.”

The shoe was launched with a short film titled “Quiet Please” featuring Chris Cadaver.

The T500 is available at $110 globally.

This isn’t the first time an ALD collaboration has helped New Balance usher in an old style back into relevance. The New York-based brand famously kicked off the reintroduction of the New Balance 550, which has since become a staple franchise for the company.
