Bake Off just confirmed their new host and it's an iconic choice

The Great British Bake Off fans get prepared for some very exciting news. The show has finally confirmed who will be joining Noel Fielding as co-host, after previous host Matt Lucas announced his departure from the show following last season. And the new host has officially been confirmed as *drum roll please* - Alison Hammond. So exciting!!

Rumours began to circulate last night on Twitter that Alison would be taking Matt's role and this morning Alison confirmed the news herself with a hilarious video.

In the video we can see Alison's very own Bake Off cake complete with figurines of herself alongside fellow host Noel Fielding and judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

Alison captioned the video: "It's official! It's happening The Great British Bake Off! Let's have it – the cake that is. So excited."

Alison will be a great addition to the series, as she'll know exactly how the bakers will feel after she competed on The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer in 2020.

She competed alongside Joe Sugg, Alex Jones and James Blunt, where she impressed Prue and Paul with her brownie recipe. Maybe Alison will bring some of her own bakes along this time too?

Love Productions executive producer, Kieran Smith also confirmed the very exciting news, saying they were excited to have her join the show.

"Alison has already proved herself to be a natural on Bake Off. Maybe not as a baker, but as someone who brings an infectious warmth and humour into the tent and we can't wait for this year's bakers to meet her and Noel. Welcome to The Great British Bake Off," Smith said.
