Bagby Hot Springs reopens 4 years after 2020 closure

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – It’s back! Bagby Hot Springs is officially open again and ready for a plunge.

According to the U.S. Forest Service website, the natural hot springs – accessed by a 1.4 mile-long trail along the Clackamas River – have reopened since their closure in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.

Several arrests made during North Portland police operation

The site will be operated by Mike & Tamarah Rysavy, the owners of Bagby Preservation, Inc.

“In January 2023 a permit was issued to a new concessionaire to operate Bagby Hot Springs for 20 years through 2042,” the Forest Service site reads. “The Rysavys bring professional hot springs experience, as they already own and operate two hot springs resorts in eastern Oregon.”

The Rysavys have plans to improve many of the features at the hot springs — including the recent renovation of the Ripplebrook Store.

The springs are open with a mere $5 soaking fee. Only cash is accepted on the site itself, but you can pay with a card at the nearby Ripplebrook Store.

No public nudity is allowed, but officials encourage patrons to share tubs with other visitors. If there is a wait for access to the tubs, a 30-minute limit is recommended.
