Bad Bunny's New Song “Más De Una Cita” Is Perfect for Your Next Zoom Party

Have you lost track of the days since the world seemingly went on pause? Yeah, us, too. Luckily, there’s always Friday to remind us what side of the week we’re on — and with Friday comes a bunch of new music to power your study and work sessions, downtime, cooking adventures, and everything in between.

If there’s a theme to this week’s picks, it’s what love can look like in the era of social distancing. From the crush of first dates to the necessary but daunting “so, what are we?” conversation to, yes, a plea to go separate ways, these songs from Bad Bunny, Tei Shi, and more span the myriad emotions of the heart. Whether you FaceTime the one you’re thinking of as you jam along or you’re simply dancing alone in your room, you’re in good company. Now press play:

Bad Bunny feat. Zion and Lennox, “Más De Una Cita”

El conejo malo dropped his newest project, Las Que No Iban A Salir, on Sunday, May 10. Translation? The ones that weren’t coming out, a fitting title for this era of shelter in place. Every track is just waiting to be played at a summer party — we recommend hosting one over Zoom — and “Más De Una Cita” is all about knowing it’s going to take more than one date to win over a dream girl. Its rhythm is just chill enough to see you through a study session, though, so don’t wait until it’s safe to go out to turn this track up.

Chloe x Halle, “Do It”

From the sister powerhouse Chloe x Halle comes the first single from their forthcoming album, Ungodly Hour (pick it up June 5th). This song features the duo’s signature controlled vocalwork, and harmonizing that perfectly captures the feeling of vibing with your best friend. “We are always very serious about the musicality of our songs and our musicianship, but the beauty of this song is that it shows a more carefree and fun vibe from us,” the singers say in a statement about the track. “We felt so good writing a song that will make people wanna bop to it and lift their spirits.”

Jacob Collier, Mahalia, and Ty Dolla $ign, “All I Need”

British lyricist Jacob Collier teamed up with Mahalia and Ty Dolla $ign for this romantic track, which is equal parts jazzy and pop. Every collaborator’s voice layers over the other’s gently, and the synth and autotune are just surprising enough without overpowering the whole effect. It feels like springtime in a song.

Alma, “My Girl”

On this track from her new album, Have U Seen Her, Alma details getting swept up in a relationship with its share of drama. “Hey girl,” the fictional paramour asks, “do you wanna be my girl?” And while the singer is wary, she dives in anyway. And like the chorus promises, there are beat drops that will make you want to forget about everything else and simply dance.

Roy Woods, “I Feel It”

Having the talk that defines a relationship can feel scary, but it’s always worth it — and now Roy Woods is here with a track that captures the risk of the moment. His bars ebb and flow with an urgency that is at once vulnerable and confident, and his voice takes center stage over a beat that peaks in all the right places.

Tei Shi, “Die 4 Ur Love

This song is so upbeat and cheery, you’ll almost forget it’s about heartbreak. Tonally similar to the best Robyn bops, Tei Shi’s newest track deserves to be on your workout playlist, your dancing-around-your-room playlist, and the playlist you’ll make when you begin commuting in the outside world again. Her voice is as soothing as the chords are energizing, making for the perfect song for finding closure and saying goodbye to what you once knew.

Lolo Zouaï, “Alone With You”

In her latest lo-fi track, Lolo comes to realize that sometimes being single is better than putting up with someone you’ve outgrown. (Consider it the anti-quarantine love song, or what happens when staying cooped up with a boo for weeks on end goes sour — yikes.) There’s still a kindness in the singer’s voice, and she knows where to hold certain words to build the emotion in the song. This song is as slinky as it is sad — sway to it when you’re deep in your feelings about a relationship that once was.

Young Rog, “On the Road”

LVRN artist Young Rog dropped the video for his single “On the Road” and it’s all about fostering love in isolation. Beginning with a FaceTime breakfast, the singer attempts to spend time with his love interest through romantic Zoom dates and virtual workout sessions — all in an attempt to keep the magic alive. For any of you dating during this time of social distancing, this is a totally sweet, relatable, and inspiring video.
