If Bad Bunny was in your Spotify Wrapped list this year, you definitely weren't alone. The Puerto Rican rapper and singer was the most-streamed artist of 2020 worldwide, with 8.3 billion streams on the app this year.

"Thank you, I don't know what to say," he said when Spotify's co-head of music, Jeremy Erlich, broke the news to him on the platform's For the Record podcast. "I do music because it's my passion, so I'm so happy right now. I'm so grateful and proud right now."

In 2019, Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was fifth in Spotify's list of top artists, Erlich revealed. He's acquired about 20 billion total plays on the app. And monthly, he boasts more than 50 million monthly listeners.

The number-one ranking wraps up a big year for Bad Bunny, who released his celebrated album, YHLQMDLG, in February and earned two Grammy nominations. He also took home two American Music Awards and won a Latin Grammy for Best Reggaeton Performance.

Following Bad Bunny in Spotify's top five most-streamed artists are Drake, J Balvin, Juice WRLD, and The Weeknd. Others in the full ranking (which you can view here) include BTS, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande.

The most-streamed female artists on Spotify in 2020 are Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Halsey.

The most-streamed songs globally on Spotify are “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd, “Dance Monkey” by Tones and I, “The Box” by Roddy Ricch, “Roses - Imanbek Remix” by Imanbek and SAINt JHN, and “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa.
