Backstage Beauty Secrets From Supermodel Natasha Poly

By Amber Kallor

Considering we’re only a month in, Natasha Poly has had quite an eventful 2015. The catwalker’s campaigns with Isabel Marant and Marc Jacobs dropped; her latest advertisement with L’Oréal Paris (in which she plays the part of a Grace Kelly blond for the brand’s new Excellence Creme hair color) debuted the night of the Golden Globes; and she opened Atelier Versace in Paris this past weekend. Not too shabby for the Russian super and mother to mini model Aleksandra (her 1-year-old daughter who made her editorial debut on the October cover of Paris Vogue). Poly said of the shoot with famed photographer Mario Testino: “These are amazing memories for [Aleksandra] and the best experience of my life. Those pictures will stay with her forever. If she wants to follow in my footsteps, it is all in her hands and I will support her.” And who better to show this burgeoning beauty the ropes (and how to slink down a runway) than mommy dearest? Here, a few lessons we can all take away from Poly—including the secret to her chiseled cheekbones, her go-to hair helper, and how she “hangs out” on vacation.

"I think it’s really important for blonds to keep their hair hydrated, and as a model, your hair absorbs a lot of products, like gel and hairspray. I use the L’Oréal Paris Oleo Therapy Deep Recovery Mask to keep my hair soft and shiny."

"I take vitamin D in the morning. It gives you energy and balances you out. For breakfast, I typically have an egg-white omelet and coffee. For lunch, I stick to salad or fruit. And at night I like to eat pasta. Sometimes I have pizza if I don’t have to work the next day!"

"I was on holiday here, but [Lionel Zama] trains me all the time. We try many different exercises, and a lot of the workouts use body weight to [create] lean muscles. Lionel showed me this amazing stretch—it’s like air yoga. You lie down in some sort of bag and you basically go upside down. It looks really intense—like Cirque du Soleil—but it is amazing for your back…If I don’t have much time, I do yoga in the hotel. Yoga also balances me and takes my stress away. If there is a gym, I like to go there as well."

"My beauty icon is Brigitte Bardot. She is such an iconic woman and such an inspiration in fashion and as an actress all over the world. She’s like rock ‘n’ roll and sexy!"
