Glass ceilings are meant to be broken, right?

But, when it comes to Kai Lenny and high-performance hydrofoil surfing, has that brittle barrier already been shattered? How much further can he push it?

The latest clip is evidence of that, showing Kai hydrofoil surfing an undisclosed wave, scoring five-minute rides, pulling off backflips, and going all-around crazy.

For a little more context, here’s the caption from Kai:

“One of the best foil waves I have ridden for performance Foiling. From top to bottom on the reef is about a 5 min ride. I kept getting carried away with the air section that were on offer. Truly a dream Foiling wave!”

It’s no secret that Kai (whose literal middle name is “Waterman”) is a multifaceted ocean sports lord. Practically everything involving the water and every surf craft imaginable, he’s a savant – big-wave paddle surfing, big-wave tow surfing, hydrofoil surfing (as seen here), Standup paddleboarding, kite surfing, windsurfing…all of it.

Most recently, Kai SUP surfed his best barrel ever at Jaws; he scored pumping Cloudbreak with a handful of CT slayers; he caught a fish while doing an air reverse; and, last but not least, he rescued a bulldog while e-foil surfing in the nasty waters surrounding NYC.

As for this most recent clip, here’s a smattering of the commenter praise:

“Kai is by far the best foiler in the world right now. He’s so creative when it comes to surfing”

“Kai is the gold standard for surfing!”

“Amazing Kai!!! I have a Challenge for you: Ride a barrel with a Foilboard and and get spit back Out.”

Or, my personal favorite, by a longshot:

“Foiling is 3D surfing. Kai foiling is 4D.”
