‘Bachelorette’ Season 14 Finale: Becca Sees [Spoiler] for the First Time Since Their Split

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for the season 14 finale of The Bachelorette. Do not read if you have not watched the August 6 episode, unless you just can’t wait to find out which of Becca Kufrin’s final two men — Blake Horstmann or Garrett Yrigoyen — won her heart.

Becca Kufrin’s Bachelorette journey came to an end on Monday, August 6, when fans watched her accept a proposal from first impression rose winner Garrett Yrigoyen. Unfortunately, Garrett’s happy ending meant heartbreak for Blake Horstmann.

Blake had been a front-runner since the beginning, and even Becca said she thought it would be him at the end. Somewhere along the way, though, her relationship with Garrett snuck past her relationship with Blake. Needless to say, he was blindsided by her rejection, and he kept asking how he could have gotten it so wrong.

“A lot of this season has been difficult to watch. … You just never really ever consider that one day you’d have a ring in your hand, moments away from getting down on your knee … and [she’d] say no,” he admitted during his live interview with Chris Harrison during the “After the Final Rose” part of the finale. “It’s hard to be so sure of something and someone, and so wrong at the same time.”

In the moment, Blake told Becca he thought she was making a mistake, and that no one would make her as happy as he would. But now that he’s gotten a little distance from it, he feels differently. “I want her to know that there’s no real hard feelings there. She did what she felt like she had to do in that moment for her happiness, and I’ll never be angry at her for that,” he told Harrison.

The hardest part, he said, has been watching their love story unfold throughout the season, knowing how it all ended. “It wasn’t watching her with the other men, it was watching her and me together, seeing how real it really was for the two of us,” he explained, adding that he’s been looking for answers in every interaction they had.

He was able to get some of those answers straight from Becca when they saw each other for the first time since the split on live TV. “Honestly, there wasn’t any moment that triggered the decision,” she told him. “I had to just evaluate both relationships and what one would fit best in my life, but there wasn’t anything that you said or did to make me question where you stood in our relationship.”

She went on to say that she started to worry about the longevity of what they had because he got in his head a lot, and she wondered whether they’d be able to get through the tough times together. But she also said she was sorry she’d hurt him, and that she hoped he would find happiness with someone else.

If the reactions on Twitter are any indication, there are plenty of people out there who’d love to be that someone else. But they might have to fill out an application for the show to take their shot — some fans are already campaigning for Blake to be the next Bachelor.

“I’m not gonna be scared now of falling in love again,” he declared.

That definitely sounds like something a future Bachelor would say, no?
