Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams’s season of The Bachelorette is currently underway, and it’s intense. As you know by now, ABC announced back in March 2020 that Clare Crawley would be our next Bachelorette. However, once the coronavirus pandemic halted production, things started getting kind of confusing. First, Matt James, who was scheduled to be a contestant on her season, was upgraded to Bachelor status.

Then, given that Crawley’s men were chosen before she was, producers used their new downtime to almost completely recast the 39-year-old’s suitors to better align with her age.

However—and this is where things get really wild—a few weeks into filming in July, Crawley was reportedly replaced with fellow Bachelor alum Tayshia Adams. We are now watching all of this unfold, and reader, it’s wild.

Here’s everything to know about this season of The Bachelorette.

The Bachelorette season 16 began filming in July. The Daily Mail captured footage of the first day of shooting at the Waldorf Astoria’s La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, California. That’s where the entire season takes place.

Then, some of Crawley’s “backup men” were asked to come to the set. According to a report by Us Weekly published on July 31, some men who didn’t make the cut for Crawley’s season were asked to join the fold just two weeks after filming had begun. “Last weekend, producers reached out to backup Bachelorette contestants who had been vetted for Clare’s season but were ultimately not cast to film at La Quinta,” a source said. “When producers reached back out, out of the blue, it was very apparent that something had happened with production.”

Crawley was replaced with Adams. Suddenly it was all over Reddit and Reality Steve that Clare Crawley was being replaced by Tayshia Adams, which was later confirmed to Glamour by sources.

It was also rumored that Crawley had fallen hard for one of her contestants, Dale Moss. If you’re watching this season, you know this is true. They're now engaged.

Lots of familiar faces are coming to shake things up. Becca Kufrin, Hannah Ann Sluss, and more former contestants from the show’s two main franchises were spotted around the La Quinta Resort throughout filming, including BIP bartender-in-chief, Wells Adams.

And on @BachDetective, an Instagram feed devoted to all things Bachelor, there is some evidence that Ashley Ianacotti was also at the location.

The Bachelorette will have more than one host. You know how Harrison mentioned JoJo Fletcher? Well, she stepped in to fill his hosting shoes when he took his son to college.

Hometown dates will look a little different. Obviously, Adams wasn’t able to fly all across America (and potentially parts of Canada) to meet the families of her final four, but that doesn’t mean The Bachelorette shirked this important milestone as a whole. According to Reality Steve, production brought in family and friends of the contestants to the resort, where they were quarantined and tested before filming.

The Bachelorette finished filming back in August. On August 30, Harrison posted “good to be home” on an image of his grill. It’s reasonable to assume that The Bachelorette wrapped then—that is, until the Men Tell All and live finale.

Tayshia Adams confirms her arrival. “You rang...?!” she posted to Instagram on October 27.

Tayshia Adams says she got wanted she wanted from the show. In an interview with Glamour, the newest Bachelorette wouldn’t confirm whether or not she falls in love, but she did say, “I got out of the journey what I wanted, so yes. Just to make—just to grow and be vulnerable and to learn. [Laughs.] And that’s all I’m going to give you!”

She also gave us a preview of what’s to come. “You’ll finally see the amazing men that were on these last four episodes that you probably didn’t see at all, and I cannot wait for you guys to see how much depth and love these guys have to give and how funny they are and how special they make me feel,” Adams said. “But also, there’s some drama, obviously. They go at it a little bit, but you’re just going to see good, amazing, organic relationships start to form, and there’s multiple relationships that I have that are really, really memorable.”

Tayshia Adams is feeling reflective ahead of the season finale. Adams took to Instagram on December 20 to post a note about her season, ahead of fans finding out who she ends up with.

“I woke up this morning feeling extra grateful. ✨ Grateful for my past as it has led me to the now.
Grateful for the opportunities that have come into my life over the past several months, allowing endless possibilities,” she wrote. “Most of all, I am grateful that I have had the chance to show my true authentic self, and share my heart, with all of you as you've watched my journey unfold.”

She continued, “I’ll have to be the first one to admit that this whole reality TV thing isn’t easy. Being only human, sometimes all of this is taxing. The last couple weeks have been a rollercoaster to say the least!”

Adams added, “Watching the last few episodes, I’ve been reliving so much of what made this experience challenging. It’s like I’ve been going through elements of it all a second time around. That being said, at times the ranging emotions have taken a toll on me and other times brought me so much hope, cheer and joy, all in real time. But I genuinely gave it my all during the whole experience and will take something away from each of the men I had the opportunity to meet and connect with.”
