Sad day for Bachelor Nation. They were one of the most popular couples of the season and many Bachelor fans are asking why Michael Allio and Danielle Maltby broke up.

Michael and Danielle were one of the final six couples on Bachelor in Paradise season 8 and left together but didn’t get engaged. During the “After the Final Rose” special, Michael and Danielle confirmed they were still together after leaving Bachelor in Paradise season 8, according to Reality Steve. Reality Steve also reported that Danielle is moving to Ohio, where Michael lives, to be closer to him, though they’re not moving in together. “They are taking things slow,” Reality Steve wrote.

The two were mostly private about their relationship but posted about the fun activities they did with each other. Michael revealed why they do so in the She’s All Bach podcast. He said that they “love each other, like, very much,” but wanted to “keep things private.”

“Being in a public relationship, it isn’t fun,” Michael revealed. “Danielle and I, like, both agree that the only people that should be in our relationship are us two. So we think just the healthiest way to have a relationship is to keep it private.”

Why did Michael & Danielle From Bachelor In Paradise break up?

Why did Michael and Danielle from Bachelor in Paradise break up? In an episode of Jason Tartick’s podcast Trading Secrets , Michael revealed the two have broken up due to the evolution of the relationship. “I guess I’ll just come out with it. We’re not together anymore,” he said. “Yeah it’s really, it’s not what we planned. We both threw a lot into this relationship, and it’s really awful when it doesn’t work out.”

When he broke up with her, he told Danielle that “love is there, but you’re not necessarily compatible.”He later explained, “You mourn the loss, not of just that person and that friend in your life, but also the future that you had envisioned,” Allio continued. “And it’s to no fault of hers.”

Michael affirmed that Danielle “poured everything into this” relationship, including moving to Ohio to be with him. “I just have so much admiration,” he explained in the podcast. “Yeah, and I guess that’s it, you know right now. We’re still you know working through some things and trying to stay close. Yeah, but, yeah, [the] last couple months have been really tough.”

He also added that starting over after a relationship is “really frightening.”

How did Michael meet Danielle on Bachelor In Paradise?

Michael was a contestant on The Bachelorette season 17 with Katie Thurston, where he self-eliminated in week seven in fourth place. In an interview on the “3 Things to Know” podcast, Michael revealed that he quit Katie’s season because he wouldn’t move from Ohio, where his son, James, lives. “Night two, we start talking about where would we live, our jobs, our goals, our aspirations, real questions! If this thing’s expedited, you better get down to it really quickly,” Michael said. “We discussed where we would live, and I remember the first time I answered it I said I was flexible mainly in the Midwest, like Chicago… and then later on in the season I came back to her and I admitted that I’m not flexible at all. “My community is here, James’ support is here, his school’s here, my sister lives down the street… We talked about it often, and she was willing to move to Akron. She said it multiple times.”

After ex-wife Laura died of cancer in 2019, Michael started an organization named The L4 Project – Live Life Like Laura in her honor. The organization sells water bottles and apparel for men, women and children with 100 percent of its proceeds going toward nonprofits that “enrich the lives of individuals and fighting cancer.

Danielle was originally a contestant on The Bachelor season 21 with Nick Viall. She was engaged to a man named Nick Haag who died at the age of 29 in 2011 from a drug overdose. Danielle was engaged to Nick for three months before he passed away. “I was engaged and five and a half years ago he passed away,” Danielle said in an episode of The Bachelor. “He overdosed on drugs and I found him. I didn’t know he was an addict so it was a complete shock.”

The two bonded over their loss in the Bachelor in Paradise season. “You can make a beautiful life for yourself after tragedy and not allow it to define you,” Michael said.
