‘The Bachelor’ Airs Viewer Discretion Warning Before Dramatic Bombshell Episode

Brooklyn reveals past torment during heart-wrenching one-on-one date.

In a heart-wrenching one-on-one date, Bachelor contestant Brooklyn Willie tearfully opened up to Zach Shallcross telling him about being physically abused by a previous boyfriend.

The descriptions were so vivid that Monday night’s fourth episode of the ABC reality show warned fans that viewer discretion was advised before the shocking segment aired.

While Brooklyn, a rodeo racer, has projected a confident veneer, she stunned Zach by opening up about her tortured romantic past.

Zach chose the pretty blonde, 25, for a one-on-one date after the show moved to the Bahamas.

The two rode ATVs around the island and kissed in the ocean.

But after their playful date, a message hit the screen that “the following segment contains material about domestic violence. Viewer discretion is advised.”

Brooklyn then said in confessional that she was going to tell Zach, 26, “Who I am. I honestly never got into details with anyone ‘cause it sometimes reopens wounds.”

Cameras then showed how over dinner later, the mood turned serious.

Zach praised her confidence, but she said, “If you would have met me a year ago, I wasn’t that way.”

Brooklyn told the hunk that she wanted to find a man who would love her the way her grandpa loves her grandma—however, she “didn’t want to marry someone like my dad."

She continued, “I did find myself in a relationship where I was with someone just like my dad and I started out saying how I felt and what I thought and it got very out of hand, very emotionally abusive. I got to the point where I didn’t speak. I was a shell of the person I was.”

Starting to cry, Brooklyn confided to Zach, “And it got to a point where it got physical and so for six whole years I was not myself and I woke up one day and I was like no, this can’t define me.”

She implied to Zach that she could have died, saying, “I truly believe if I wouldn’t have just woke up and got out, I can literally guarantee I would not be sitting here right now.”

Tearful Brooklyn said she had to rely on strength she didn’t know she had to get out of the abusive relationship.

“I never looked back,” she said.

Brooklyn told Zach how happy she was that he'd accepted her.

An emotional Zach replied, “You’ve gone through battles that I didn’t imagine but you are so f---ing tough, and it makes me sick to my stomach that you had to go through something like that.”

Brooklyn then recalled in confessional how, while in the abusive situation, she remembered “the cops waking me up ‘cause I got knocked out."

The barrel racer said, “I definitely think Zach is amazing for being receptive to [hearing my story] and for making me feel comfortable. I never had a reciprocated love.”

She yearned to feel love back after giving it to someone who hadn’t deserved it.

Zach told the cameras, “Brooklyn is a bad ass….brave…I am absolutely blown away.”

He gave her the date rose and told her, “I want to continue to build what we have.”

The bachelor also implied to the cameras that Brooklyn was one of his front runners: “There really is something special here.”

Also, fans and host Jesse Palmer praised Brooklyn's courage via Twitter after the harrowing segment aired.

The show's official Twitter account also encouraged victims of domestic violence to seek help—a message that also aired during the episode.
