TikTok reveals this perfume will make you smell like old money — and here are some more affordable versions because let’s get real

A few years ago, TikTok introduced us to the concept of “old money” dressing. The term “old money” isn’t new — it describes people from generations of wealth. But as a fashion style, it’s known to be simple, sophisticated, elegant clothing without too many labels or too much flash. That said, looking like old money isn’t enough. People want to smell like it, too, and TikTok seems to have found the perfume for it.

Quick Overview
  • Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540

  • Quality Fragrance Oils' Impression #333, Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540

  • Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa '68 Hair & Body Fragrance Mist

  • Lattafa Ana Abiyedh Rouge for Unisex Eau De Parfum Spray

There’s a TikTok account featuring the often wealthy people of Palm Beach, Florida, called @classofpalmbeach, and contrary to the usually neutral palette “old money style” has, the account showcases this style in the form of colorful resort wear. The interviewer asks people what (or who) they’re wearing, but at the end of each video, she also always asks the fashionista about her favorite perfume.

On more than one occasion, the interviewee says, “Baccarat.” In fact, one of @classofpalmbeach’s most viral videos, featuring Peloton’s Jenn Sherman and her BFF, they both say Baccarat. Curious about the perfume I had never heard of, I quickly searched TikTok for more on the scent and found many people who love it — videos on the fragrance have a collective 470 million views.

Available in three sizes, starting at $205.

$205 at Nordstrom

The perfume is actually Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540, and it’s described as an amber, woodsy, floral scent. It has notes of jasmine, saffron, cedarwood and ambergris. According to @itstop5dave on TikTok, who did a video about it, it also contains bitter almond oil from Morocco to give it a sweet smell. Some people really love it and how long the scent lasts, while others on the app have made videos sharing how much they despise the smell. That said, this perfume is pricey. The smallest bottle, 1.2 ounces, is $205 at Nordstrom. (Noting again that there’s ambergris in it, a waxy substance produced in the stomach of sperm whales. Yep, it’s not cheap to obtain.)

So for those who aren’t from old money or just don’t want to shell out a ton of cash on perfume, TikTok found some dupes. These are the top three more affordable fragrances that apparently smell very, very similar to Baccarat Rouge 540, and they’re all under $25 on Amazon.

Roll this perfume oil onto your pressure points.

This roll-on oil even has the original perfume’s name in its own. For less than $10, you can get a similar scent and roll it on your pulse points.

“I was looking for an extremely inexpensive version of the Baccarat Rouge 540 perfume and came across this oil,” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “Since it was affordable, I figured I would buy it, in hopes that it would smell like the actual perfume. To my surprise, it does. When you first apply the oil, you immediately get this sweet cotton candy scent, then after a few minutes, the stronger perfume notes really kick in. It does seem to have more of a strong/masculine scent once rubbed in and not the fresh scent like the original. However, it is pretty close and still smells amazing.”

Sol de Janeiro’s pink body mist is said to have a sweet scent that’s faintly similar to Baccarat. It has similar notes of jasmine and musk, but it’s definitely lighter. Since it’s a body spray and not a perfume, you can spray it all over after you get out of the shower or apply lotion.

“I love it it smells just like Baccarat,” one Amazon reviewer simply said.

This one has the most similar fragrances notes.

If you look at the fragrance notes for Ana Abiyedh Rouge perfume, they’re pretty much the same as Baccarat: jasmine, saffron, bitter almonds, cedar, musk, ambergris and woods. People on TikTok are especially psyched about this one and its similarities to Baccarat, especially because it’s so much more affordable.

“I wanted to finish the bottle before I write a review. I just placed another order,” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “This fragrance, smells so sweet and delicious. I bought it because someone on TikTok said it was a dupe for Baccarat rouge. I wouldn’t say it smells exactly like it but it’s definitely close! It has its own beautiful aroma. I got a ton of compliments on it.”
