When your baby is learning to walk, or even toddling pretty well, taking them out in the snow for the first time is a magical event. The crunching, slushy snow is all new to them, and having a great pair of baby snow boots is critical to everyone having a warm, good time. They make an adorable topper on Christmas gifts, sat atop the box like a bow. It lends a bit of whimsy and utility to a more traditional gift like toys.
Babies need slightly different boots than you or me. They need their snow boots to be a bit more flexible for their learning feet — and they need to be easy for caregivers to take off, but not so easy that your baby can rip those puppies off when you're not looking. (Why are shoes so offensive to them?)
Of course, you want them to be cute, too. Fortunately, you could put just about anything on a baby and it automatically becomes cute, but I've found boots that are adorable all on their own. From mini baby duck boots to pull-up boots with a thick lining, there's a baby snow boot on our list for every baby.
Toddlers’ Ultralight Winter Boots
There's a lot to love about these adorable baby snow boots. But to be honest, my favorite feature is that the pull-on tabs are on the front and back, not on the sides, meaning that it's designed for parents to pull on and off, not the children.
It has a rugged outsole that maintains good flexibility while providing a superior grip. The fleece lining is super soft, and the Primaloft insulation will keep your baby's toes cozy, and a mudguard to keep the wetness off their feet.
Gilman Waterproof Insulated Boot
Our tester "ran like a rat" in these boots. We don't understand what that means either, but he's a New York City kid, and lower to the ground, so we're assuming it's a good thing.
What we love as parents is the breathable, yet waterproof exterior, the ability to tighten and loosen as we require, and the extremely grippy bottoms that still somehow retain the flexibility that See Kai Run is known for as a baby shoe brand. As someone who loves skiing, I find that I am super impressed with how reflective the reflective strips of the shoe are, and that gives me a huge sense of comfort. I also love the softness of the fleece, and how well it wicks moisture.
Toddler Alpenglow
Why is everything made so much cuter when it's in baby size? The North Face proves it with the baby version of their popular Alpenglow snow boots. Thankfully, they're just as useful as they are adorable, keeping baby's feet warm and dry, no matter the weather. It's a combination of leather exterior and polymer bottoms with a warming 200 grams of HeatSeeker Eco insulation covered with a fleece fabric. The hook closure is genius, as babies have a hard time ripping them off.
Faux Fur Trim Winter Snow Boots
I was pretty worried about these boots given that they are Children's Place being sold on Amazon, but they're honestly pretty great. They are a bit stiffer and a bit harder to pull on than some pricier boots, but they're just as waterproof and warm in our testing. For a season, this is a wonderful, economical choice for families.
Splash Duck Boots, Pink, 10 Toddler
Is there any baby brand more iconic than Osh Kosh? I don't think there is. They're made of recycled materials, with a stiff body and soft top, fleece interiors, and a Velcro closure that keeps boots on baby's feet. They come in a bunch of different colors, and so far, they've tested to last, now going through two different siblings with only the expected wear and tear.
Baby Shark Snowboots
These boots were 100% chosen by the baby himself, and it turned out that a wild, epic breakdown about wanting the boots another kid at daycare had turned out to be an economical, good choice. Are they a little bit hideous? Yes, they are. And the song and show they're connected to is equally as annoying, but the waterproof shell and Velcro closure combined with the rugged bottoms and soft interior make is a fantastic choice for picky littles.
Baby B-Moc Snow Boot
The Bogs B-Moc baby snow boots have a few cool features: There’s a cinching cord just above the ankle to keep snow away from baby’s feet, the mudguard is primarily on the toe and heel, allowing the midsole to remain flexible, and these boots are actually designed for baby to take them off and put them on.
They’re 100% waterproof and rated for below zero temps. They’re cute, durable, and definitely make great hand-me-downs.
Baby Boy Girl Snow Boots
Snow and slush won’t bother your baby when they’re wearing these waterproof snow boots. Available in multiple colors, these boots have a flexible rubber outsole, waterproof polyester top, and warm, faux-fur lining.
They’re as cute as they are useful, and for just $40, they’re a real bargain thanks to how well they hold up under the stress of children just doing their best to destroy them.
Toddler Girl Warm Winter Snow Boots
These were recommended to me by a few moms, and I admit, I was suspicious of this random Amazon brand boot that's only $20 being any good — that was until I saw them.
My little baby niece had obviously loved these boots hard, as they were covered in specs of paint, and the bottoms were dirty as heck, but even after a year's worth of abuse, they still held up.
They have a waterproof upper, nonslip rubber sole, faux fur, and plush lining, and the closure is a bit hidden from toddlers' immediate range of vision. Plus, just look at them! If you have a little fashionista? They'll want these.
Baby Snow Boots
Indoors with leggings or outside with jeans, these are fashionable baby snow boots that can really take some snow.
They're a great option for new walkers who need a lot more flexibility in their soles than traditional boots provide. Yes, they have a little water resistance and a decent mudguard — but more importantly, they can be laced firmly to stabilize little ankles, and the bottom is really flexible.
Girls Toddler Tottenham Cold-Weather Snow Boot
London Fog baby snow boots are hands-down one of the most popular and best-reviewed baby snow boots you can buy. Parents love how durable they are, how warm they are, and how much their children love them. Many parents remarked that they had to buy their child this boot in multiple sizes because they wanted to wear them long after they were too small.
They have synthetic upper and lower parts, and the laces are functional, but the dense insulation, cozy faux-fur top, and well-loved design are where this boot shines.
Little Children’s Out ’N About Waterproof Boot
When you want your baby to be chic and warm, consider these boots from Sorel. They are the right height to fit with pants or leggings, are totally waterproof, and the interior is like butter.
Like most Sorel boots, these run pretty small, so you should size up a size or two when buying these adorable booties.
Deltha Snow Boot
Want your child to learn some independence? Carter's boots are the easiest for your toddler to take off themselves, but younger babies won't be able to operate the Velcro straps as smoothly.
These are the quintessential snow boot. A strong rubber outsole and mudguard, waterproof upper with Velcro tabs for adjusting, and plush fleece interior with thick insulation mean this boot can take any weather you throw at it.
Choose from gray, blue, or a heart pattern that's just as sweet as it can be.
Amanda Plush Lace II Snow Boot
This is a more flexible version than the other pair of Bogs on this list, and the insulation is a bit lighter. This pair of boots is made for slushy days, as the top is essentially one piece of material that is tightened with strong laces.
The bottom is made from durable rubber but with more motion to it. Like the other Bogs, your little one can take these off and put them on all by themselves.
Little Kid's Icestorm Crib Boot
Baby duck boots may just be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Now, I am from the Northeast, so I may be biased, but just imagine your little one waddling about the snow in these.
Don’t worry about the laces, either. They’re mostly for show. There’s an alternative closure that lets you get them on and off in a cinch.
The bottoms are vulcanized rubber with a strong grip and good midsole flexibility. The top is water-resistant synthetic materials, and the interior is lined with cozy fleece.
