I think that we can all agree that there's nothing cuter than babies getting all dressed up for their day (in fact, when it comes to the best baby and parenting products, clothes are our absolute favorite). Whether they're in a sleeper or kitted out in a tuxedo with tails, babies look undeniably adorable in any type of 'fit they're adorned in. Because of my obsession with making babies look their absolute cutest, I wanted to find the best baby clothes brands out there — or, in other words, brands that make the best new baby gifts for you, or a friend or loved one's baby, even freaking cuter than they already are. This, my friends, was no doubt a daunting task, but I put forth my greatest efforts and found not only the best baby clothes brands but also some of the best offerings from these brands.

How We Chose

Several of the editors on our team are parents with first-hand experience with some of the best baby clothes brands. We gained that experience through exposure in our professional lives and our personal choices when we clothe our babies. As a parenting editor for almost a decade and a parent for even longer than that, I have tested dozens of baby clothes brands and baby shoes and accessories like kids' backpacks. Every brand on this list has been tested by our babies, our nieces, and our nephews to ensure that they are truly top-notch.

We let the babies be babies in these brands — eating, drinking, blowing out their diapers, jumping in muddy puddles, and, of course, sleeping. We laundered them and dried them (even on high sometimes because we were in a hurry), to ensure these baby clothes upheld the best quality possible in realistic situations.

I evaluated every baby clothing brand on our list for comfort, ease of cleaning, cost, and for cuteness. Some brands have a huge range of clothing available, while others are more focused on basics or sleep. I made sure to have brands that have clothes for pinnacle events like a baptism or a holiday. Baby clothes are mostly going to be stretchy and comfy, but there's no reason that they can't also be well-made and easy to find.

This brand is the brainchild of a former hair stylist who wanted cuter, bolder, comfier baby clothes — and let me tell you, she succeeded. Posh Peanut is one of the best baby clothes brands on the market thanks to its freaking adorable clothing options that are also the softest on planet Earth. Oh yeah, they wash like a total dream, too. There's even a new line of Mommy and Me and Daddy and Me lines that have a chokehold on us.

Posh Peanut has an almost cult-like following, with parents waiting for the next pattern to drop like it's a Taylor Swift song. There's a good reason for that — they're saturated, they don't fade, they don't tear easily, and so many of them have matching accessories like blankets and bibs. Both our Deputy Editor, Joana Mascioli, and our SEO Senior Manager, Sean Abrams, love Posh Peanut, and their babies are frequently bedecked in the brand's clothing. My daughter and I both have multiple pairs of pajamas, and we wear those more often than any other jams in our rotation. Mori is primarily a casual clothing brand, but they do have some smart, standout pieces like cable knit sweaters and Fair Isle two-piece outfits. From my personal shopping experiences, I've found that Mori is one of the best baby clothes brands for shopping separates for littles out there. Many of the clothing items are from the same color families, so they can be mixed and matched easily. Think of Mori's clothing line as a capsule wardrobe for littles. (Someone needs to make this a thing on Pinterest. Give me the credit.)

They also last. Lots of the pieces I've purchased have gone through a couple of babies without any issue or effect, and because Mori offers so many gender-neutral styles, they're a great brand to invest in for your entire growing family.

They set out to create an ethically produced, sustainable, affordable brand that makes it easy for parents to dress their children. And, somehow, their soft and sweet baby and kids' clothes are as fun as they are functional.

Young Days is one of my favorite brands because not only is each individual item priced really well, but they offer whole, curated bundles of clothing for around $100. It's certainly not as cheap as a store brand offering, but the quality and comfort are so much better. I have never found the clothing to have that "eco-friendly" feel to it that used to be pretty common in this space. Instead, there are bright colors and fun patterns like traditionally manufactured baby clothes brands. There are tons of styles available. And you will never look at a Young Days dressed baby and think, "Oh, their parents are into the sad beige baby trend."

If you're looking for your baby to have "a moment," Caden Lane will deliver on that. One of my favorite things Caden Lane offers is their personalized clothing. I got my nephew a little sweatshirt with his name printed on it for his naming ceremony. They lean into customization in a way no other baby brand really does. It's bold and graphic instead of your typical monogrammed blanket.

Hanna Andersson is hands-down one of my favorite children's brands of all time. It's a highly-curated brand with styles that are classic and timeless. I dress my babies in it, buy it for gifts, and recommend it to everyone. It's high-quality, heritage-quality, mid-range kids' clothing, and I couldn't love it more.

This brand features solidly Scandi-styled baby clothing that screams "Nordic chic." Hanna Andersson has a little bit of everything — from dreamy printed pajamas to holiday wear — and that's a big reason why I value them so much. Whether I am seeking something special or something every day, there's something in that store that will suit my hunt. Plus, they have sales all of the time, where you can score some major savings. You get incredible quality clothing, and you get it at a discount most of the time — what could be better?

Janie and Jack is occasion clothing, for sure. They are among the best baby clothes brands for tailored, preppy clothing that's made to look fancy and expensive without going over the top in the cost. It's not cheap, don't get me wrong, but it isn't wild, either. I have so many holiday photos with my kids wearing their clothing, and I have continued that tradition by gifting their clothes to my siblings' kids and kids of friends.

I don't know a single parent who doesn't rely on Old Navy for a significant portion of their baby's wardrobe — they're perennial favorites, super affordable, and oh-so-sweet. It's clothing you buy by the set, and you don't worry as much if they get a bit worse for wear. As for style, they have that, too. Simple Joys makes baby clothing that very much looks like baby clothing, and we love that.

Their comfortable pajamas adorned in playful prints are some of our favorites. They have gowns, zip-ups, and separates. It's not just for babies, either. They have plenty of options for older kids, too. In fact, my 12-year-old still wears some of their tee shirts.

I buy probably 50% or more of my workwear from Zara, so I should have been less surprised when parents gushed over how much they love Zara's baby line.
