Ayo Edebiri and Paul Mescal Spark Dating Rumors After Sharing Sweet Photo Together

Are Ayo Edebiri and Paul Mescal dating? The actors sparked dating rumors when, over the weekend, they shared a photo of themselves together.

Edebiri posted the shot on her Instagram Story on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17, and over it wrote “Happy St Paddy’s.” The image showed the pair sitting on a staircase, and Edebiri smiling widely with her eyes closed while embracing Mescal with one arm. He, in turn, smiles directly at the camera with one hand resting on The Bear star’s lap.

Fans on social media immediately began speculating that the photo may have been the actors soft-launching their relationship, but the two have not commented on the rumors, and it’s just as likely that they’re simply good friends leaning into Edebiri’s funny Irish bit. While Mescal is Irish, Edebiri went viral earlier this year for making up a story about how she went to live in Ireland to prepare for her role in The Banshees of Inisherin—a movie she absolutely was not in. She did a fake Irish accent, and pretty soon, fans from Ireland began claiming her as their own, even jokingly dubbing her the internet’s Irish princess.

Also, she and Mescal have been pals for a while. Last March, they were pictured together at the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards. In October, they were photographed at a party together with friends. In November, the Ordinary People star said in an interview with Awards Watch that he’d love to do “a rom-com with Ayo.” And this February, the pair were seen catching up at the BAFTA Awards in London.
