Ayesha and Steph Curry

On a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ayesha Curry sat alongside Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina to discuss everything from first concerts to first big paychecks, and everything in between. During a segment of the show known as the “Clubhouse Quickie,” Cohen asked the ladies to field rapid fire questions, one of which implored Ayesha to recall the first meal she ever made for her incredibly talented husband, Steph Curry.

For a bit of back story, Ayesha and Steph first met in 2011 at their church youth group in Charlotte, North Carolina while the two were still teens. In response to Cohen's question about the first meal she made for Steph, Ayesha recalls Steph’s father giving her a charcoal-based southern seasoning that initially inspired her to cook for the Golden State Warriors star point guard. “I made some chicken with that and some rice and asparagus,” noted the Irish Wish star, a Netflix film set to release on March 15.

No stranger to a first-time cooking experience, Ayesha even had a run-in with former president Barack Obama when he visited her San Francisco restaurant, International Smoke on Presidents Day in 2019. Ayesha described the experience on WWHL as being “nerve wracking,” and even anxiety-inducing due to a party trick nearly backfiring.

“I sabered a bottle of champagne and I, for some reason, blacked out and forgot that I was standing right behind his head,” Ayesha detailed the harrowing experience. “So Secret Service was kind of inching in and I didn't realize until after.”

Whether Ayesha Curry is a secret assassin or an innocent restaurateur looking to impress one of our country's greatest leaders is still up for debate. But one thing is for certain, she can be in the presence of greatness and rise to the occasion in a major way. She obviously won over the hearts of Steph Curry and his father, so you’ve got to assume her cooking skills—at the very least—are on point.
