Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun Split Less Than a Year After Engagement

So much for Avril Lavigne's happy ending! The 'Complicated' singer has reportedly split from fiancé Mod Sun.

Things have gotten "Complicated" in Avril Lavigne's personal life.

Less than a year after getting engaged, the "Girlfriend" singer and her fiancé Mod Sun have called it quits on their relationship, multiple reports claim.

According to People, an insider claims that the couple has been "on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple."

TMZ reported a similar sentiment Feb. 21, but noted that "there was no cheating on either side."

This update comes mere days after Lavigne was spotted embracing rapper Tyga during a dinner outing with friends to Nobu in Los Angeles. Now before you start blaming the "Taste" artist for Lavigne's ended engagement, a People's source specified, "Avril and Tyga are genuinely friends and nothing more."

Lavigne and Mod Sun, whose birth name is Derek Smith, were co-workers before they were romantic partners, having released the track "Flames" together in January 2021.

By April 2022, the pair were engaged, with Mod Sun declaring after the proposal, "The day we met I knew you were the one. Together forever til our days are done. I had a dream where I proposed in paris. I pulled out a ring + asked you to wear it. I was on one knee as I looked in your eyes. You're too beautiful for my words to describe. I grabbed your hand + took one last breath…I said 'will you marry me?' + she said 'yes'. I love you Avril."

Nonetheless, as her famed song "Sk8er Boi" notes, she said, "See you later, boy!"
