Avocado, Honey, and Sunflower Recipe from the Tone It Up Girls

We love it smashed on toast with lemon juice and olive oil, or sliced into a salad. We love it in a Mexican dip (or in these 10 Savory Avocado Recipes That Aren't Guacamole) or whipped into a dessert (like in these 10 Delicious Avocado Desserts). But most of all, we love eating avocado straight out of the skin, with a spoon.

That's why we're psyched to share this fun recipe video from Tone It Up's Karena and Katrina. They've created a sweet and savory snack that upgrades a plain avocado half using just two other ingredients: honey and sunflower seeds.

Not only is this treat creamy, delicious, savory, and sweet, but it's full of nutritients too. Avocado is packed with healthy fats and fiber to keep you full, as well as tons of vitamins and minerals, including potassium, which helps keep your blood pressure in check, and folate, which helps keeps your energy up. Sunflower seeds pack another hit of plant-based fat, protein, and vitamin E, which is an antioxidant and boosts your immune system. (Here, 6 Fresh Ways to Eat Avocados.)

And, as Karena points out, all of these foods can help you glow from the outside as well as from within. You can use any leftover ingredients (just the honey and avocado-leave the sunflower seeds out of it!) to make a moisturizing face mask that'll give your skin a little extra TLC this winter. (And we've got more health, fitness, and nutrition tips from Karena and Katrina to get you through the cold season.)
