Picoult set the record straight after years of confusion.

Do you know how to pronounce Jodi Picoult's name?

There are plenty of celebrities out there with unique names, and if we are always reading the words instead of hearing them (as is usually the case with authors), it's not surprising to learn that we've been pronouncing them wrong this whole time.

This just so happens to be the case with the author behind popular novels like My Sister's Keeper and The Pact, so Picoult took to TikTok to set the record straight.

Picoult, 56, just joined TikTok recently, and she quickly realized that fans weren't quite sure how to say her last name.

Captioning a new video, "Clearing up a couple things," the writer started by saying, "Hey there, it's Jodi. I hear that since I joined TikTok, there has been a little bit of discussion about how to pronounce my name. You all get Jodi right, but you're not too sure about the last half of it."

With captions and photos to aid in the explanation, Picoult said, "Well, it's Jodi PICO. As in, pico de gallo." She then pointed out all of the wrong ways people have been saying it over the years.

While wearing a peacoat, she said, "It's not Jodi Pea-coat." While holding a photo of a horse, she said," It's not Jodi Pea-Colt."

Then, with a photo to match, she said, "It's not Jodi Pea-colt-in-a-pea-coat." Another picture showed a woman in the forest surrounded by people in white, with Picoult adding, "It's not Jodi Pea-Cult."

Lastly, she clarified that "it is Jodi Pekoe (like the tea)."

Hopefully, that in-depth explanation settles the debate on how to pronounce Picoult once and for all.

A fan sheepishly commented, "I've read like 20 of your books and have been saying it wrong this whole time. 🫣."

Someone else joked, "Jodi are you sure?"

Another author on TikTok added, "I have pronounced your name every way but the right way 😂 thank you for this! 🙌🏻."

Picoult only joined TikTok four days ago with a video of an interview she did on CNN speaking out against the governor of Florida's ban on certain books, a list that included 20 of her novels.
