AUSTIN BUTLER IS soaring onto TV screens with the epic new limited series Masters of the Air, which follows a unit of fighter pilots in World War Two. It's the latest big budget project on Butler's resume, and likely came with a healthy salary to match, taking the actor's career and professional earnings to new heights.

Butler has been a working actor since his adolescence; one of his first major roles was on the Nickelodeon series Zoey 101, and he also made appearances in Disney Channel shows like Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place.

He then moved onto young-adult drama series Life Unexpected, Switched at Birth, and Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries. At around this time, The CW were offering newcomers between $15,000 and $20,000 per episode. Butler also starred in the fantasy adaptation The Shannara Chronicles, which ran for two seasons.

Not much is known about what Butler was paid for his various TV work, although the salary of actors with regular cast credits is notoriously a lot lower than industry outsiders might think, once agents and managers have taken their cut. For Butler, though, those experiences were important and formative as an artist.

"I look back on the Nickelodeon and Disney shows that I did; even though my skill wasn’t there, I still wanted to give the energy [as if] I was going to make Raging Bull," he told Backstage. "I kept that fierce dedication toward trying to find more truth, even in things where it could be easier to just phone it in."

After a prolific early career on the small screen, Butler moved into the world of prestige film in 2019 with supporting roles in Jim Jarmusch's dark comedy The Dead Don't Die, and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in which he played Tex Watson, a murderous member of the Manson Family. He received a reported $250,000 for that gig.

But Butler's true breakout role was as the King of Rock'n'Roll himself, Elvis Presley, in Baz Lurhmann's 2022 musical biopic Elvis, for which he was rumored to have been paid $700,000. His performance earned him an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win for Best Actor, and his transformation for the project was so drastic that two years later he is still inexplicably speaking with that pronounced Southern drawl.

His next big movie will be Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi sequel Dune: Part Two, where he will be portraying the vicious antagonist Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. Butler allegedly trained for "four months" to get into lean, mean shape to play the character—although there's no word yet as to what kind of accent he'll be using.

What is Austin Butler's net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Butler has somewhere in the region of $4 million to his name, thanks to his high-paying role in Elvis and as-yet-undisclosed paycheques for Dune: Part Two and the Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg-produced Masters of the Air.
