The "Austin & Ally" Cast Reunited Over Zoom

Almost five years after the Disney Channel original series Austin & Ally aired its final episode, some of our favorite stars from the show have reunited. As social distancing across much of the globe continues, four members of the show joined E! News for a virtual reunion that included lots of reminiscing and laughs.

Reuniting on Thursday, May 8, the virtual hang — which featured appearances from Ross Lynch (Austin), Laura Marano (Ally), Raini Rodriguez (Trish), and Calum Worthy (Dez), featured the group reflecting on the show's 2011 beginnings and the future.

According to the cast, after filming the first pilot episode, everyone went to a diner to hang out together. Other notable tidbits from the reunion included Ross sharing that Austin & Ally was his first table read, and Laura confessing that she wasn't even sure she had secured the role. "At the end of the process there was one person for Austin, Ross, there was one person for Trish, Raini, and there were two girls for Ally. So, I actually had no idea if I got it or not," she said.

The 27-minute Zoom meeting also featured the group re-creating the Austin & Ally clap from the theme song, and reflections on their first impressions of one another and memorable moments shared with fans. The cast later addressed what current guest stars they'd most like to see join the Austin & Ally gang if the show was still airing and some of their picks included Cardi B and Barack Obama.

As for where their characters would be in life now, Laura believes Austin & Ally would be on tour and working together, Ross believed Austin would be a great dad, teaching his kids how to play music, and Calum thinks Dez would be directing artsy films.

Following the reunion, Ross took to reveal that the reunion continued even off-camera. “We honestly had so much fun hanging out. We called each other after the interview too. Love these guys," he wrote. Laura also thanked Disney for making it happening, writing on Twitter that she was “literally just crying."
