  • Audrey Roloff, formerly of Little People, Big World, shared advice about dating alongside an Instagram of her and Jeremy Roloff on Wednesday.

  • In response to her post, fans of the TLC star were divided.

  • Audrey ended up responding to her critics and made some important clarifications about her post.

Perhaps unexpectedly, Audrey Roloff ignited a passionate online debate about love and dating in the comments section of a recent Instagram.

It all began when the former Little People, Big World star posted a photo of herself and her husband of five years, Jeremy Roloff, with a message addressed to all her single female fans.

"You can't help who you fall in love with, but you CAN help who you spend time with," she wrote. "Be careful spending too much time with someone you don't see yourself marrying because you just might fall in love with them .... And falling in love with someone you don’t see yourself marrying only ends in hurt. Guard your heart so that you can give it undividedly to your future husband. You would want him to do the same for you💗."

For the most part, many seemed to agree with her message about love. "Oooofff go off sis 🙌🏼," one fan wrote. "Alllll the praise hands for this," another commented.

However, some weren't so sure about the message. "This is weird advice. Falling in love multiple times is a wonderful part of life," one fan wrote. Another declared that "you can love, get hurt, learn and be a better person for the one you chose to marry."

Audrey took the time to respond to some of these points and agreed that her rule also applies to men, not just single women. She also clarified to one follower who called her message "super regressive" that she doesn't think "women are somehow damaged or not pure."

In her and Jeremy's best-selling book about dating and relationships called A Love Letter Life, Audrey has said that she doesn't consider herself to be a marriage expert. Instead, she wants to use her own experiences to try to share helpful advice based on what she's learned.
