Aubrey Plaza’s Stylist Explains Elizabeth Olsen Twinning Moment

Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen shared more than the red carpet on Thursday night. The “Ingrid Goes West” costars arrived at the film’s Los Angeles premiere wearing matching ensembles, much to the delight of photographers — and their scheming stylists.

Plaza and Olsen were twinning in Marc Jacobs dresses and Sophia Webster heels, a moment orchestrated by their stylists, Jessica Paster and Sarah Slutsky.

“We’re just pulling, pulling and the night before [the premiere], Aubrey comes up with this funny little thing,” explains Paster. “She starts laughing and says, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if you found out what Lizzie was wearing and I would copy her?’ And then all of a sudden, I said, ‘That would be the funniest thing in the world.’”

After receiving Olsen’s approval to copy her look, Paster called up Slutsky to coordinate. She ran into difficulty with p.r., which prompted her to take to the racks herself and go shopping. “I started going to Barneys and Neiman’s and Saks and Valentino,” she says. “I started taking pictures of the girls’ size dresses that they would wear that we had two of. Lizzie loved the Marc Jacobs dress, so that’s how we ended up choosing the Marc Jacobs.”

And as for why the ladies were so keen on matching in the first place? “If you watch the movie, you’ll totally understand,” Paster says. “The movie’s phenomenal. It’s so good. Both girls are awesome. That little Aubrey plays stalker crazy, amazing. But watch the movie and you’ll get what’s going on.”

Early this morning, Sarah Slutsky posted about the twinning moment on Instagram, crediting Paster as her “co-conspirator.”
