Last night, inaugural Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner and his finalist (slash fiancée!) Theresa Nist sat down with host Jesse Palmer during the After the Final Rose segment of the season 1 finale in order to give everyone a rundown on what's happened since their televised stint on the show wrapped. After tons of congratulatory messages—and the newly-engaged couple dishing that Theresa "knocked [Gerry's] boots off" in the fantasy suites 👀—, we learned that the duo is set to get the full TV wedding treatment with a special broadcast on ABC after their engagement in Costa Rica.
And because we know you're as nosy curious as we are, dw we've got all the deets on when that's going to go down: According to Jesse, The Golden Wedding will air on Thursday, January 4, 2024. The host also took a moment to reveal that the show will be sending Gerry and Theresa on a trip to Italy for a romantic vacation, to which the Golden Bachelor replied, "We can use that as our honeymoon trip because we are going to get married. We’re going to do it as quickly as we can because, at our age, we don’t have a lot of time to waste. As quickly as we can put together a wedding plan, we’re getting married." Obsessed!
P.S. Interestingly enough, the special will actually mark the first televised nuptials for the franchise since former Bachelor in Paradise couple Evan Bass and Carly Waddell exchanged their vows in 2017. Other notable mentions in its history? The Bachelor season 17 lead Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici's nuptials in 2014 and first-ever Bachelorette Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter's back in 2003.
During Gerry and Theresa's After the Final Rose segment, the couple also expressed how happy they've been since getting engaged even after going back to their normal lives, gushing that they speak on the phone for hours "every day." "We have gotten into deeper and deeper conversations," Theresa gushed. "We just laugh so much. It’s been great." My heart!
