"We are thrilled to welcome back in its full form the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade," New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a press release. He said he looks forward to "welcoming back Parade watchers to experience it safely, live, and in-person this November."
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday tradition like no other. With epic displays featuring giant balloons and performers, there’s just so much to look forward to with this fall favorite event. And for its 95th anniversary (that’s nearly a century!), you can expect the displays will be even better than in previous years.
"Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a New York City institution for more than nine decades, growing to become an icon of American pop culture as it annually marks the official start of the holiday season," Will Coss, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, said in a statement. "For our 95th celebration, we are delighted to return this cherished holiday tradition closer to its original form as we march down the streets of New York City and into the homes of a nationwide audience."
Although Macy’s is still in serious planning mode when it comes to which floats and performances you can expect to see this year, they’ve released some details about when and where the parade is taking place, who’s hosting, and how to stream if you’re viewing at home. When is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?
The 2021 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is happening on Thursday, November 25. It begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m. ET, but there’s typically an encore presentation that occurs from around 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
How can I watch and stream the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?
You have some options this year! Of course, you can always stream the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade right from your home. The event has previously been available on NBC and CBS, whether you’re tuning in on the TV or online. The Macy’s website currently states that it will be available on NBC.

The 2021 hosts of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade have not yet been announced, although last year Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, and Al Roker hosted the event last year on NBC.
Who’s going to perform this year?
Although the official lineup hasn’t been revealed, Macy’s shared that the event will feature performances from the marching band, cheer, and specialty group performances—that were supposed to take place last year—will go live in New York City this November. Macy’s giant character balloons will also be a part of the show with its 80-100 handlers.
