A new Asian-inspired restaurant is opening on Pawleys Island. Here’s where

A new restaurant is opening on Pawleys Island at the previous location of a now-closed local eatery.

Andomiro South Carolina will serve Asian-themed dishes on Pawleys Island, according to the eatery’s Facebook. The restaurant’s Facebook post also said that Andomiro is hiring servers, line cooks and prep cooks. Andomiro did not return a request for comment before publication.

The new restaurant is opening at 12036 Ocean Highway on Pawleys Island, according to the restaurant’s Facebook, which locals might recognize as a familiar destination. Sol Cocina Mexicana served tacos, enchiladas and margaritas in keeping with its Mexican theme there previously. The eatery was open for five years before closing in November 2023. Sol Cocina Mexicana Chef Armando Cobian said in September 2023; the eatery closed because the rent was too high.

The cost of renting commercial spaces has gone up in recent years. In 2021, the National Association of Realtors, who recently agreed to a $418 million settlement due to alleged anti-competitive business practices, reported that retail space rent increased 2.7 percent nationally and 3.5 percent in the Myrtle Beach area.

Globest.com, which covers commercial real estate, reported in September 2023 that yearly commercial space rent increased by 3.6 percent, with states within the Sunbelt seeing even higher increases. South Carolina is considered a Sunbelt state.
