Ashley Tisdale says she’s found a method of dealing with hair loss.

The High School Musical alum, 37, took to her Instagram Story on Friday to share a photos of herself getting a hydro facial, as well as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. She captioned one of the pics, “I haven’t ever discussed this before, but I do get alopecia when I am in times of high stress. 12 years ago was when I was diagnosed with it. The hair always grows back in the small areas I have it but I noticed PRP makes it grow back faster.”

PRP therapy for alopecia, or hair loss, involves drawing blood from an individual, processing it and then injecting it back into the site of the hair loss. The therapy is also used for stimulating the healing process following injuries like tennis elbow, as well as post-surgery. As of now, use of PRP for hair loss, as well as skin treatments, are considered “off label” as they are not yet approved by the FDA.

While Tisdale, who gave birth to her and husband Christopher French’s first daughter Jupiter in 2021, has not specifically spoken about suffering from alopecia, she did pen a blog post on her website Frenshe about her thinning hair, and the products she has tried to combat it.

She’s not the only star to speak out about hair loss. Earlier this month, Ashley Graham shared photos of her postpartum hair loss on Instagram, writing in the caption, “At least it’s growing.” The model previously told Parents that her “whole hairline fell out” after the birth of her first child.

Jada Pinkett-Smith has also been candid about dealing with hair loss, and now shaves her head. In a 2018 episode of her show Red Table Talk, she shared, “It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh, my God, am I going bald?’ It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear. That's why I cut my hair, and why I continue to cut it."
