Ashley Benson's Hair Is Now Darker Than It's Ever Been

Picture Ashley Benson in your head. You're envisioning her with long, blonde hair, right? Of course you are — blonde hair has kind of been her thing since she began her most notable role as Hanna Marin in Pretty Little Liars about a decade ago. Over the years, she's shown us several enviable takes on blonde: platinum, dirty, ombré, rose gold, and every shade in between. She's even dipped into light-brown territory a couple of times, but her latest trip to the colorist is by far her most shocking yet.

On October 6, Benson shared a photo to Instagram captioned, "Me and my best," alongside longtime friend Remington Franklin. What she cheekily failed to mention, though, is the fact that her hair is way darker than we've ever seen it. Whereas the last time we saw Benson she had an ash-blonde "clavicle bob," now she's wearing a rich chocolate brown shade that goes a little golden at the tips. Truly no one could've seen it coming. The dark new color couldn't get past the trained eye of Benson's fans, however, who made it known that they're living for the change (the post has more than 504,000 likes already).

Leave it to the fall season to inspire a revolution of dramatic celebrity hair transformations — Benson is one of many stars who've decided upon a totally opposite hair look within the past couple months. Dua Lipa just went from her signature dark brown to rosy blonde, Millie Bobby Brown has the longest, blondest hair she's ever had, and Ariel Winter went strawberry blonde for her recent guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU too. Whereas most brunettes are going blonde, Benson is setting herself apart by diving into the metaphorical deep end. Any fellow PLL fan will agree: Hanna Marin would be so, so proud.
