Ascarate Park introduces bikeshare station

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM)—The SunCycle bike share program has partnered with Ascarate Park and Playa Drain Trail to launch a new bike share station in El Paso.

The community is invited to the free SunCycle Trek and Trail Kick-Off event at Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta Drive, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

According to a news release by the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority (CRRMA), the family-friendly event will include free snow cones, music, a scavenger hunt, games, and chances to win prizes.

Guests at the event can ride the SunCycle bikes free of charge and are encouraged to ride the bikes around the park and trail.

“We are delighted to introduce our bike-share station at Ascarate Park and the Playa Drain Trail and to invite the community to experience the joy of cycling along our beautiful trails. This event promises to be a fun-filled day for all, and we hope people enjoy all the amenities the park and trail have to offer,” said Raymond L. Telles, executive director of CRRMA.

Parking is free before 11 a.m.; afterward, the fee is $10, cash only.

SunCycle was presented by CRRMA in 2015 and now has over 20 bikeshare stations in El Paso.
