ASAC program provides partial hospitalization level of care

May 14—The Area Substance Abuse Council is introducing its New Beginnings program to Clinton, providing a partial hospitalization, or PHP, level of care.

PHP involves 20 hours per week of substance use treatment designed for complex substance use disorders.

New Beginnings is a patient-centered program that serves individuals on an outpatient basis allowing individuals to maintain employment and remain in their home communities, or on a residential basis at ASAC's High tower Place and King House facilities for individuals that need a more structured, supportive environment while continuing to receive services from their primary medical and mental health provider.

The programming will focus on a whole-person perspective made up of evidence-based curriculum that utilizes both individual and group counseling. Patients are encouraged to participate in community support groups outside of ASAC's programming and mental health services when appropriate.

Ongoing monitoring and assessments take place while individuals are in programming to determine if treatment needs are being met or if a referral to a more intensive level of care is needed.

ASAC has also partnered with community agencies to present on topics including ongoing recovery, community resources, and support services.

Programming is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at ASAC's Human Services Campus at 250 20th Ave North, Suite 250.
