Artist transforms bananas into stunning 3D masterpieces

When was the last time you played with your food, specifically fruit? Graphic designer Stephan Brusche has a thing for bananas that goes beyond just eating them — he uses the yellow fruit to make incredible works of art. Seven years ago, Brusche found inspiration in his lunch! He told Yahoo, “I saw I still had a banana left from lunch and figured if I drew a little face on it, it would be fun enough for a picture.” That odd experiment turned into a popular Instagram account that has almost 80,000 followers. Brusche quit his full-time job to fully commit to “fruit doodling” (as he likes to call it). His creations include a tribute to King of Pop Michael Jackson, a “Game of Thrones” masterpiece, and — one of his favorites — an homage to Marilyn Monroe. He uses toothpicks, a knife, and a ballpoint pen to transform his bananas. Interest in Brusche’s work has taken him to trade shows, where he gives live demonstrations of his banana art. He hopes to inspire others to stretch their creativity beyond the traditional canvas.
