Artist Creates Renter-Friendly Wall Mural Using a Painted Duvet

There are DIYers and interior decorators and then there are people who are artists to their core. They hold more creativity in one hair follicle than most of the population. It's always a wonder to see them at work and how they make things work. TikToker Amara (@thepajamahub) is that ever-resourceful artist who can make anything beautiful.

She took a duvet cover and transformed it into renter-friendly wall art for her apartment — and no, this wasn't a case of hanging a pretty duvet and calling it a day.

She used peel-and-stick paper, but only to serve as a protective layer for walls before hanging the duvet. "Renting makes you think outside the box," she shared with her followers about the project.

"For this rental-friendly makeover, I covered the wall in peel-and-stick vinyl. To keep it budget-friendly, I used a duvet cover from H&M Home and opened the seams to use the printed side as a mural. Stuck it on the vinyl with wallpaper paste. Painted with watercolors. Painted over the vinyl on each side in matte blue wall paint." 

Adding the watercolor painting personalized the wall art and made it nearly unrecognizable as a duvet. This idea especially appeals to anyone skeptical of even the contact paper that's supposed to be wall-friendly. I often fear that no matter how easily removable it's marketed to be, in a year when I'm trying to remove it, it'll still pull my paint with it.

While this alternative requires a few more steps, it might give a bit more peace of mind. The H&M duvet is only $34.99, and depending on how big your wall surface is, it could also be a cheaper option if you want to try your hand at this wall-friendly hack.
