At Artisphere, kids are part of the action

It’s a whole weekend of art for all ages as Artisphere takes over downtown Greenville May 10 – 12.

“This is an event for everyone,” Kelley Barnhardt, the festival’s communications strategist, said. “I think part of what has made Artisphere so successful and so special is that it is an art festival situated within the broader context of a community festival. And by that, I mean there really is something for everyone. There's kids activities, there's food, there's music, there's artmaking in action. There's chalk drawing, there's parades that come down the street.”

Throughout Artisphere’s 20th anniversary weekend, there are opportunities for children and teens to be at the center, through hands-on activities and art labs, as well as through having festivalgoers see the work of young artists.

Kidsphere is held in its own area on South Main Street near Grill Marks. It includes a Velcro mural wall, a straws and connectors zone, and more.

The Children's Museum of the Upstate will lead a craft, and across the street, visitors of all ages can watch a printmaking demonstration. Throughout the weekend, view the art of elementary and middle school students, engage with interactive activities from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina, watch artists create, hear music, see dance and much more.
