Armored Core 6’s PC Requirements Are Surprisingly Reasonable

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is just around the corner, and it has the potential to be a hit like the series has never seen before. The series started eons ago (1997) and never really took off outside of Japan, but with FromSoftwares massive success in recent years, all eyes are on the newest mech game to see if it’ll hit as hard as the developer’s Souls games.

While Armored Core 6 is set to be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, the PC version of the game is likely to be one that gets a lot of attention. With that in mind, it’s a good thing that FromSoftware has finally released the minimum and recommended specs for running Armored Core 6 on PC, so you can see if your PC is up for the task.

Armored Core 6: Minimum Specs

Unlike the PC requirements for Baldur’s Gate 3, Armored Core 6 will require you to have a somewhat recent rig to even play the game in the first place. The CPU side is probably the most stringent of the requirements, asking for processors that are, at the very least, from 2017 or later. If you want to go a little bit older, you’ll need an Intel Core i7-4790K or an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, both fairly high-end chips at the time of their release. You can get away with the next generation of chips in the mid-range though, with an Intel Core i5-8400 or an AMD Ryzen 5 2600.

Armored Core 6 looks to be a very pretty game, but its minimum specs are pretty low-key.
FromSoftware

The GPU side of things is a little more forgiving for minimum specs, asking an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 or an AMD Radeon RX 480, either with 4GB of VRAM. Both of these cards were mid-level gaming cards, so there’s a lot of flexibility there. No matter what your CPU and GPU though, you’ll need a minimum of 12GB of RAM, and 60GB of storage space — no SSD required though.

Here’s the full list of minimum requirements for Armored Core 6 on PC:

 • OS: Windows 10

 • Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K | Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X | AMD Ryzen 5 2600

 • Memory: 12 GB RAM

 • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 4 GB or AMD Radeon RX 480, 4 GB

 • DirectX: Version 12

 • Storage: 60 GB available space

Armored Core 6: Recommended Specs

It might surprise you to learn this – it certainly surprised us – but the recommended specs for Armored Core 6 aren’t actually that much higher than the minimum specs. It’s more or less a generational leap forward on either end of the spectrum, which still equates to 2018 or 2019 parts — many of which can be picked up for bargain pricing second hand these days. The CPU side is once again a high-end or next gen situation, asking an Intel Core i7-7700 or an Intel Core i5-10400, or on the AMD side a Ryzen 7 2700X or Ryzen 5 3600.

The GPU situation is a little odd though. If you’re going for an Nvidia GPU, you’ll need a GTX 1060 to meet the recommended specs — a card that’s actually a few years older than the GTX 1650 required for the minimum spec, and only a little bit more powerful, with a bit more VRAM at 6GB. AMD fans will want to go with an RX590, while Intel players will need an Arc A750, both of which will need 8GB of VRAM. As before, you’ll also need 12GB of RAM and 60GB of storage, and we imagine that RAM will probably be doing a lot of heavy lifting for asset streaming.

 • OS: Windows 10/11

 • Processor: Intel Core i7-7700 | Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | AMD Ryzen 5 3600

 • Memory: 12 GB RAM

 • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 590, 8GB or Intel Arc A750, 8GB

 • DirectX: Version 12

 • Storage: 60 GB available space

Can Armored Core 6 Run on Steam Deck?

While we don’t know if Armored Core 6 is Deck Verified yet, we do know that it’ll at least run on it pretty well. Last month, in a Digital Trends interview with producer Yasunori Ogura, it was said that the Steam Deck will be “fully supported.”

“Obviously seeing how well Elden Ring performed on the Steam Deck, we were very happy, and we wanted to at least create that as a baseline going forward for this handheld,” Ogura said, “So it is fully supported for Steam Deck. We just want to reassure players that it will be fully supported.”

So there you have it, Armored Core 6 will run on Steam Deck, and is likely to be Deck Verified. That’s because pretty much all of FromSoftware’s other titles, including Elden Ring, are Deck Verified, so it’s a pretty safe bet that Armored Core 6 will join these titles.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on August 25, 2023.
